ABBOT HALL SOCIAL CENTRE - STANDARD CONDITIONS of HIRE (05/7/23)
(If the hirer is in any doubt as to the meaning of the following, the Bookings Secretary or Treasurer should be consulted).
For the purposes of these conditions, the term HIRER shall mean an Individual hirer or, where the hirer is an organisation, the authorised representative.
THE HIRER will during the period of the hiring,

THE HIRER will during the period of the hiring,
- be responsible for the supervision of the premises, the fabric and the contents, their care, safety from damage however slight or change of any sort and the behaviour of all persons using the premises whatever their capacity, including proper supervision of car parking arrangements so as to avoid obstruction of the pavement or entrance to the Centre.
- check on arrival that the room/kitchen and toilets are clean. If not let the Bookings Secretary know how you found them, as soon as possible. (Otherwise you may be blamed for the mess)not sub-hire or use the premises or allow the premises to be used for any unlawful purpose or in any unlawful way nor do anything or bring onto the premises anything which may endanger the same or render invalid any insurance policies in respect thereof.
- be responsible for obtaining such licenses as may be needed including those for the sale or supply of intoxicating liquor.
- ensure that nothing is done on or in relation to the premises in contravention of the law relating to gaming, betting and lotteries.
- ensure that all fire escapes remain unobstructed through the hire period.
- if preparing, serving or selling food, observe all relevant food health and hygiene legislation and regulations.
- ensure that any electrical appliances brought by him to the premises and used there should be safe and in good working order, and used in a safe manner.
- indemnify the Committee for the cost of repair of any damage done to any part of the property including curtilage thereof or the contents of the buildings, which may occur during the period of the hiring as a result of the hiring.
- ensure that the minimum of noise is made on arrival and departure.
- ensure that no dogs, except guide dogs, are brought into the centre.
- shall, at the end of the hiring,
- be responsible leaving the premises and surrounds in a clean and tidy condition, anything not related to that room stored away in appropriate storage cupboards; for returning all Tables and Chairs to where they were originally;
- leaving the centre properly locked and secured, unless directed otherwise, with any contents temporarily removed from their usual positions properly replaced.
- leaving the room as you find it. (The building is managed by volunteers. If we have to have professional staff to manage it, our charges will increase greatly, or we will have to limit its use.)
- Sweep up, so that the next user doesn't have to. The brush, pans and vacuum cleaner are in the office opposite the kitchen.
- Leave the kitchen clean.
- Take away any recycling waste for ethical disposal.
- Empty bins in the Rubbish bin outside the door.
- IF THE HIRER wishes to cancel the booking before the date of the event then the Bookings Secretary must be informed, giving as much notice as possible.
- In the event of the centre or any part thereof being unfit for the use for which it has been hired, the Committee shall not be liable to the HIRER for any resulting loss or damage whatsoever.
- Where two (separate?) HIRERS are using the rooms, they should each consider the other hirer – in respect of noise levels and sharing furniture. They should also negotiate any shared use of the kitchen (space and times etc.).
